The Catholic School Parent Council (CSPC) is a committee of volunteer parents who works with the school community to realize our shared goal of improving student achievement through enhanced accountability of the Catholic education system to parents and the community. The role of the CSPC is to provide a vehicle for parents and guardians to participate in the advisory and decision-making process of their own school.
Our mission statement is as follows:
- Enhance and improve student learning at the School in accordance with the Board’s mission and vision and with the elementary curriculum requirements as set out by the Minister of Education;
- Ensure that the School provides students with the teachings and traditions of the Ukrainian Catholic Eastern Rite and enhanced Ukrainian International Languages Program and related cultural programs with adequate Board and School Community resources;
- Maintain links between the School Community and the parish of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Toronto, which provides spiritual guidance to the School.
Every year, CSPC – in collaboration with dedicated parent/ family volunteers – organize exciting initiatives and events for our school. This is a very special opportunity for parents/families to supplement and enhance JCS students’ academic, athletic, and spiritual school experiences. Many of these projects require fundraising efforts, which are also organized by the CSPC as well as very dedicated volunteer parents. These fundraising activities enable us to support the following:
- Our children’s beloved visit from Sv.Mykolaj
- Easter celebration & Pysanka making
- Ukrainian language instruction material
- Holodomor bus
- Technology in classrooms (iPads, Chrome books, projectors, IPVEOs, etc.)
- Scientist in Class, Art, Drama & other workshops; Book Author visits; Guest Speakers
- Sports equipment & Musical instruments
- Playground improvement & maintenance
- Classroom supplies
